On October 5, 2023, the second exhibition of the art project “The stone embroideries of Nova Kakhovka in textiles” was opened in Varna, Bulgaria in the “Pencho Slaveykov” Regional Library.
The event was officially opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Bulgaria Olesia Ilashchuk, the Mayor of Varna Ivan Portnikh, the Deputy Mayor Ralitza Gerasimova, director of the library Radka Kalcheva and the author of the project Tanya Bolharova.
The exhibition features 12 textile wall panels – copies of the “stone embroideries” of Nova Kakhovka, built in the 1950s during the construction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and the North Crimean Canal. “The stone embroideries” were created based on the sketches of the famous Ukrainian monumental artist Hryhoriy Dovzhenko.
